Overview of Changes – by Community
Novato
-
Enhances local circulation – recognizing that over half of the trips generated in Novato stay in Novato. Routes in neighborhoods will be operated with small buses as money is available to purchase new vehicles.
- Replace long and circuitous routes with more direct connections to destinations.
- Creates a consistent half-hour service on South Novato Boulevard on weekdays.
- Provides service to Hamilton.
Northern San Rafael
- Improves connections between major destinations and the San Rafael Transit Center (SRTC).
- Increases big-bus service running every 30 minutes, linking the major high-ridership destinations: Civic Center, and Northgate.
-
Adds an hourly service designed for areas somewhat harder to reach - from the San Rafael Transit Center, through the Dominican area, Civic Center, the Kaiser area, then up 101 to Hamilton and to Ignacio.
- New community shuttle route maintains peak hour service to Santa Venetia, which lost service due to earlier Golden Gate Transit cuts.
- Includes a new community shuttle providing service from the Civic Center to Terra Linda and Marinwood.
Canal Area
- Expands hours of more frequent 15 minute service from the Canal to the San Rafael Transit Center, and destinations north, south, and west.
- Adds direct service from the Canal to Marin General Hospital and College of Marin.
- Adds direct service from San Rafael Transit Center to Mill Valley with convenient connections to the Canal route.
- Creates a single seat ride from the Canal to Civic Center, Northgate, and northern San Rafael destinations.

- Creates direct service from Fairfax to San Rafael Transit Center eliminating the need to transfer in San Anselmo during the week.
- Enhances service to Larkspur Landing.
